Mandrea Bike got some sad news the other day – AMA is closing its doors after three years of operation in a week.
An epic dinner took place at Ama a couple weeks ago to celebrate the soft opening of restaurants across Toronto. People were ready to go out after pandemic hibernation, and not surprisingly, Mandrea Bike was all over this in shop dinning experience. The whole evening was accentuated by some back and forth on social media over the course of the meal and led to a couple rounds of tequila shots with the owners. The group felt like family.
This Argentinian Supper Club was started by two childhood friends, Mike & Chef Sebastian (AKA CHEBABY). The modern day AMA has it’s roots in a food truck that ultimately grew into the place it is today.

It was evident from the get-go that AMA’s four course meal was on order for the whole table, followed by an initial round of sangria – can’t not. The first course was beef empanadas doused in chimichurri sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. They were miniature and each person enjoyed two.
Next up was the grilled chorizo, also covered in chimichurri. It came on a plate with a generous portion of meat, without actually filling us up for the leading act. Finally, a platter of three cuts of steak (all cooked medium rare) landed at the centre of the table and everyone felt like they had died and gone to heaven. The final course was a Dulce de Leche crepe, and if you’ve ever had these flavours, you know that they’re irresistible.
All we can say is that we are happy to have experienced Mikes welcoming hospitality and CHEBABY’s delicious meat empanadas and that beautiful chimichurri sauce that was lathered on every bite of each dish. The gang left with full bellies, smiling from the food and in pleasant spirits from the fun interactions with the staff.
Thanks for a memorable evening AMA. Between the hospitality and the food – Mandrea Bike and the gang loves you. It’s sad to see this young relationship between us cut so short – we wish you the best of luck and you know where to find us if you have any future food endeavours!
Eat with you soon,
Mandrea Bike
