Sushi Omigoto – 888 Dundas St E E-1, Mississauga, ON L4Y 4G6
Country: Japan
Must-try dish: Salmon Love Roll
Dinner guest: Young Matt
A craving for sushi led us to a Chinatown themed plaza in Mississauga where there’s a little Japanese restaurant tucked in the back corner. As you drive in, you cross under a large gate and suddenly all the shops and restaurants represent a variety of countries in Asia. There’s even a little gazebo in the middle of the parking lot with a bridge and a small stream running underneath it, which is likely a hotspot for photos or to hang out in warmer weather.

Sushi Omigoto was one of the few store-fronts still in operation since many of the places in the plaza seemed to be shops that are likely not considered essential services. However, there’s a large grocery store and a handful of restaurants that are working under reduced hours for takeout and delivery services.
The order consisted of an eclectic mix of goodies but the meal was primarily focused on getting a large serving of sushi. Here’s what was settled on:
- Salmon Love Roll
- Omigoto Platter A
- Agedash Tofu
- Seaweed Salad

The Salmon Love Roll was the clear winner for the best dish of the night. This specialty roll was made from a spicy salmon base and was topped with torched salmon. Not only was the smoky flavour incredible, but it was presented beautifully as though it was an edible piece of art.
The assorted platter offered a taste of a number of sushi staples: Calfornia Roll, Dynamite Roll, Green Dragon Roll, Spicy Fish Roll, and Spicy Vegetable Roll. Mandrea Bike took a particular liking to the Spicy Fish Roll, which is a mix of a few fish with spicy mayo and tempura bits.
The two appetizers were a refreshing change from the rolls. The tofu was dressed with a teriyaki sauce and bonito flakes, adding a fishy taste to the dish, while the seaweed salad was lighter with its slippery texture. There was a generous portion of salad that’s much larger than the one in the image – Mandrea Bike was thrilled about it!
This place was discovered on a whim to satisfy a sushi craving and it was an impressive result between the freshness of the seafood and the service when the order was picked up.
Just a reminder to everyone that continuing to order takeout and delivery meals from family-run restaurants is a fantastic way to support them during this difficult time with COVID-19 regulations in place.
Eat with you soon,
Mandrea Bike
